Data migration preparation guide from Gmail to Thulo Mail

In order to transfer your emails from or to a Gmail account, you first have to generate an app password:

When migrating data from or to Gmail, Google requires you to enable IMAP in your Gmail account and use an app password instead of your account password . Therefore, you have to enable 2-Step Verification for your Google account and generate an app password before migrating your emails.

STEP 1:  Login to your Gmail account at https://www.gmail.com/

STEP 2: Click on the accounts icon in the toolbar and choose Manage your Google Account

STEP 3:  In the left navigation bar, select Security

STEP 4:  Scroll down to Signing in to Google and ensure that 2-Step Verification is turned to On.

STEP 5:  If 2-Step Verification is On, click on App passwords.

STEP 6: After you have authenticated, generate a new app password. Choose Mail under Select app and your device (e.g. Windows, Mac) in Select device. Click on the Generate button.

2 Go to Settings and select See all settings.

3 Proceed to Forwarding and POP/IMAP and activate enable IMAP. Scroll to the end of the page and click on Save settings.
